Beechwood 76  0-4  Cliffe Woods

A good work out for Craig and the boys on Saturday out in Tenyham. But at one stage the game was actually in doubt.

For us people who arrived early enough, we found the Beechwood players working hard to fill in the dozens of rabbit holes scattered all over the pitch. The players and management were busy filling all the holes with rubble and top soil and compressing them down with the rather rusty roller which lives by the gate.

Once the game started it was obvious that Beechwood were not going to be too much of a test, but they did manage to keep the score down to only 1-0. This was scored by Will Ireland. Rising highest at the far post to head home a corner from Richard.

Another corner from Richard a few minutes later was again met at the far post by Will but was this time was just wide.

The Beechwood keeper was not that confident in catching the ball and dropped everything that came at him. He even decided to chest one shot from Baxter off the line.

The best move of the half was started by Karl, racing out of goal played the ball down the left wing for Dixon to chase. One he gets going nobody can catch him and his cross found Fletcher on the edge of the area whose shot was just over the bar.

The second half saw Aaron Taylor take over in goal from Karl. Aaron tried to keep it interesting by completely messing up a back pass, but was able to recover in time.

Goal number two was rather special (Will said lucky). Will and Steve Morley played one-two down the right wing, Morley crossed, Will tried an overhead kick which fell right into the Path of Tom Loynes at the far post to put us two up.

The third goal came from a corner. Steve Morley played the ball short to Dixon who rolled it back to him and everybody just stood and watched as his low cross rolled straight in.

Chris Dixon saved the best goal until last. Tom to Dixon, to Tom, to Dixon, to back of net 4-0, game over.
