Performance of the season this one. Even the gale force wind could not hold back the Maroon Army.
Everybody was up for this game and that’s not only the players. It was the biggest crowd we have had at Cliffe Woods Rec.
6 mins: Alfie plants a header into the bottom corner, only to be flagged offside by the lino.
15 mins: Rat Boy free kick rebounds off the crossbar.
25 mins: Alfie on a run puts a cross over from the right to Ratty but the defender gets there first. Opps, own goal. 1-0
29 mins: An Evolution forward is given offside, twenty yards into our half. The Law man steps up to take the kick, waits for a gust of wind and launches the free kick goal bound. The ball bounces once on the edge of the area and straight in. Kasty says another own goal. No way mate, Darren Law all the way. 2-0.
30 mins: Man of the match Dave ‘Stavros’ English sends Rat Boy clear, he takes the ball round the keeper 3-0.
This week’s half time team talk was made to a bunch of smiling faces, unlike last week.
Ten minutes into the second half and a wind assisted cross beet Baker in goal, but his blushes were saved by the lino’s flag.
62 mins: Alfie picks up the ball out on the right, cuts inside and slips it to Dave ‘Stavros’ English. He turns in the box plays it left to Ratty who smashes it in. 4-0.
82 mins: And Baker is finally beaten. Substitute Lee Bridges gives Evolution a consolation goal. 4-1.
85 mins: And our Substitute Lee Solomon scores his first goal of the season to give us a rather convincing 5-1 scoreline.
Even the introduction of the Kirbynator 20 mins from the end had little effect on the outcome. (perhaps they should have played him sooner)
That Result puts us through to the last eight of the competition.
