05/03/2010 - Important message

Important message to all registered players of Cliffe Woods Football Club

On Thursday 4th March, I received an email from Mr. T. P. Lawrence, League Secretary of the Rochester & District Football League. The email advised me that all of Cliffe Woods FC fixtures had been suspended due to late payment of the final instalment for our pitch fees @ £150 per team.

Due to the generous nature of someone who shall remain nameless, a loan has been received to cover the cost. Repayable at the end of the season.

The reason that there is not enough money to pay the fees is because of two things. 1) Lack of games over the past few months due to bad weather and 2) Players inability to pay match subs and outstanding fines on time.

For those of you who are interested, the first team have outstanding match subs and fines totalling £345, the reserves £31 and the ‘A’ team £425.

For your information, this is the only time a loan will be used to assist the Club in this way. Any repeat of this and the fixtures will remain suspended until such times as the Club has enough money to pay the fees. And if that means closing the Club down, then that is what will happen.

M. D. Davies

Club Secretary.

21/11/2009 - Thank You Stevie G.

I would like to thank Steve Giles for being the only one of our 75 registered players who attended the Clubs fund raising evening at Sittingbourne Greyhound Stadium last night. Fund raising events must a new concept to most of you as you obviously did not understand the meaning.

A fund raising event involves people attending the arranged function, which raises money for the organisation to which the event is aimed. In this case Cliffe Woods Football Club, Remember them?

The funds that these events raise go towards the running of the Club, and towards the purchase of kit and equipment.

So next time you are standing out on the pitch before the match without a ball to kick about, it’s because we just can’t afford to buy any.

So if you want to have a kick about before the match, try bringing your own.  At least that way you might not be so quick to leave them in the garden behind the goal after you have thrashed them over the fence. As this is what your pre match warm up seems to consist of.

These fund raising events would not be necessary if you all paid your match subs, signing on fee’s and fines on time.

So if you want anything in the future I suggest you go ahead and arrange it without my help. And that includes the end of season presentation.

Speaking of Match Subs etc you will see what I mean from the list below.

The First Team owe -         £290.50

The Reserves owe -           £  73.40

The ‘A’ Team owe -            £386.80

                                     £750.70  Total

15/09/2009 - Match Report Correction

Match Report Correction

I stated in the First Teams Match Report on Sunday that Riverside had not lost for two years. Mr. Morley has in fact pointed out this is not true. Saturday 11th October 2008 they were battered 9-3 at home By Tony’s Cliffe Woods ‘A’ in the Kent Junior Cup.

They must be sick of the site of Cliffe Woods.

01/09/2009 - Thank you

£300 and still rising.

That’s the amount collected at yesterdays charity match.

A Few thank you’s.

Thank you Medway Council for putting the whole day in jeopardy, by not marking out the pitch as they were supposed to.

Thank you to all players who couldn’t be bothered to turn up. How embarrassing was that, photographer from the paper there to take a pre match photo and we only have 8 players. Just as well Cannon had a few spare and could lend us some.

Thank you to Ray Swatton from Cliffe Woods Colts who was responsible for refurbishing the changing rooms during the summer. And for acting as changing room attendant for the day.

Thank you Mick and Norm for running up your phone bill, trying to get players on the day.

Thank you to Karl (who finally got his chance at a penalty, and scored) and David from the Reserves for stepping in when asked.

Thank you to young James for also putting on a kit and playing when required. (and scoring from the penalty spot).

Thank you to all who came and supported the match.

Thank you to Luke Kirby for the Strongbow.

Thank you Cliffe Woods Social Club (Pete & Val) for the BBQ in the garden. And Mr. Medhurst and Trudie hard working behind the bar, making sure we had our drinks on time.

The game finished 4-4 so it went to a penalty shoot out with new found keeper ‘Rat Boy’ saving 3 of the 5. Which saved the blushes of Dave English who hit his spot kick way over the Bar.
